The SKYCITY New Zealand Breakers have managed to clock another win to start off round 5 of the 2011/12 iiNet NBL Championship. However, it wasn’t all plain sailing.
The Breakers were up by 26 points during the game, yet half way through the last quarter, the Adelaide 36ers had them down to six points with four minutes to go. The Breakers did manage to hang on, with Wilkinson top scoring on 29 points, one rebound off a double-double. Cedric Jackson did do wonders for the team as he has relatively consistently so far this season, being reward with a double-double (11 assists, 16 points).
It was an extra special game for the Breakers. With this being the first game at their home court, the North Shore Events Centre, the Breakers unveiled their 2010/11 iiNet NBL Championship Banner, as well as retired the number 32 singlet as a mark of respect to Paul Henare who retired at the end of last season.
